June/July/August 2011 Grammy-award-winning music producer
June/July/August 2011

Busy months: the summer begins in Vienna and the Vienna Philharmonic playing the Liszt first piano concerto with Lang Lang conducted by Valery Gergiev. This completes a Liszt disc and Chris edits and mixes the concerto in Vienna with Lang Lang together. For an iTunes release Chris edits performances of Brahms’ Symphony No.4 with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Gustavo Dudamel.

In Dresden Maurizio Pollini plays the Brahms Piano Concerto No.1 with the Staatskapelle Dresden and Christian Thielemann conducting. This is to be a CD and video recording and for the recording there is the luxury of the dress rehearsal and three concerts. In Weimar Chris records the Elgar Violin Concerto with the remarkable Armenian/Canadian violinist Catherine Manoukian, accompanied by the Staatskapelle Weimar conducted by Stefan Solyom. In August Chris Alder is the audio producer for a TV spectacular from the Berlin Waldbühne for ZDF. The concert features the singers Anna NetrebkoJonas Kaufmann and Erwin Schrott in a wide-ranging program from opera to tango, and the live broadcast is watched by millions of viewers throughout Europe. Later that month Chris is in the Beethovensaal Hannover to record a mixed program of Debussy, Stravinsky and David Newman with the pianist Andrew von Oeyen.
